Leaving Minors Alone in Cars (Edward Weinstein, NJ Divorce Attorney)
In this video, ABC’s Eye Witness News sought the insight and experience of East Brunswick, New Jersey Family Attorney Edward R. Weinstein after the mother of a 19-month-old was charged with child neglect for leaving her sleeping child alone in a car while she shopped for party supplies. According to Mr. Weinstein, leaving a minor child alone in a car in New Jersey, even briefly, can legally constitute child neglect. His office has successfully defended a client by siting mitigating circumstances such as; the age of the child, how long the child was alone, and the danger of the area the child was left in.
